Capt. Russell Tanaka and his crew were fishing in the Pokai Bay Bonanza Jackpot Tournament when they hooked their grander behind the MARY I. The 13-foot long marlin ate a blue lai-skin lure designed by Larry Tang that was rigged on 130-lb test line and pulled the 45-foot sampan around the ocean for three hours and 40 minutes before coming to gaff. The fish put the crew (Dirk Britton, , Ricky Lam and Butch Farm) in second place in this total weight tournament. It was the second grander in two days in the same tournament.
