100-plus Weight Angler Location Date Ulua 108.7 lbs Chad Gomes South Kona 03/04/2023 Chad ventured over to the South Kona shoreline on the Big Island. He joined Rody Dasalla for a weekend of relaxation and some ulua fishing at one of their favorite spots. The first 10 minutes of the battle was basically a stalemate, as Chad could not gain many lines back. But the beast on the other end of his line began to tire. Chad soon was able to gain some line back with each boost of his rod. Another 10 minutes elapsed, and just when Chad thought he had his adversary beat, it got pinned down on the reef below. With some timely advice from Rody, a veteran shore caster in his own right, Chad was able to get the exhausted fish to float to the surface, revealing a huge ulua. Chad, being a very laid-back guy, showed no celebration emotions, although believe me he was very excited about what he had just accomplished after 20-plus years of ulua fishing. He had fulfilled every shore casters dream of hooking and landing that 100-Plus ulua. After all was said and done, Chad's ulua measured in at a length of 54 ½" , with a girth of 43" and officially weighed 108.7 lbs.
