Upon setting the lead on the last pole, the first one went off and Dick was hooked to a 129-lb ulua. Dick battled the ulua using a 12-foot Shimano Tallus pole, a Penn 9/0 reel and 80-lb test Maxima line. When his leader came up, Dick passed his pole to Joshua and went down to gaff the beast. Exhausted from the battle, Dick couldn't lift the monster and called for Joshua to grab his waist and pull. With the right timing, the duo managed to bring the huge ulua up with the waves.
