100-plus Weight Angler Location Date Ulua 118 lbs 8 oz Fred Desha Kau Coast, Hawaii 09/15/06 Fred Desha's 118-lb ulua won him Largest Ulua honors of the year for Hilo Casting Club's 2006/2006 fiscal year. In addition, he won the club's perpetual trophy for catching the largest ulua of the month for three months. Most amazing was that those three months were the peak of the ulua season! Fred got his 118-pounder using a 12-foot Talon rod, Newell 546 reel and 80-lb test Berkley Trilene line. Awesome!
